                   Dickens Universe Lecturers

     Dickens Universe, which this year is focussing on _The
Mystery of Edwin Drood_, has announced its slate of lecturers for
the Summer meeting that will take place at UC Santa Cruz from
Sunday August 1 to Friday August 6.  One major lecture is
scheduled for each day, in the following order:

Robert Tracy    UC Berkeley
Gerhard Joseph  City University, New York
Carol MacKay    University of Texas
Albert Hutter   UC Los Angeles
Gordon Philo    London
Wendy Jacobson  Grahamstown University, South Africa

    In addition afternoon and evening talks will be given by
the following, again listed in temporal order:

John Glavin     Georgetown University
Fred Kaplan     City University, New York
David Parker    Dickens House, London
Philip Collins  University of Leicester
Jack Hall       City University, New York

    Speakers for the Victorian Mystery Conference, which follows
the Universe from the evening of Thursday, August 5, through
Sunday, August 8, will be announced in a few days.
