Members of the Dickens Forum,

Our friend and elegant essayist on Dickens, Nancy Metz
<[log in to unmask]>, has asked me to forward the following to
you: (PJM)
-------
2001 Dickens Symposium
at the Hotel Roanoke
Roanoke, Virginia
October 12, 13, 14, 2001
Sponsored by The Dickens Society of America

The sixth annual conference of the Dickens Society of America will take
place at the Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Virginia on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday, October 12-14, 2001. The Hotel Roanoke is a newly (and
beautifully) renovated nineteenth-century hotel which Virginia Tech bought
and restored as a conference and continuing education facility. The Hotel
is ten minutes from the Roanoke airport by limousine service and a block
away from the downtown area full of shops, restaurants and an open-air
market. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just a few miles away. Further
information about the Hotel may be obtained at this web address:
http://www.hotelroanoke.com.

Please submit 2-page abstracts by May 1, 2001 to: Prof. Nancy Metz, English
Department, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA 24060-0112. Final papers should
be no longer than ten typed, double-spaced pages, readable in approximately
15 minutes. There are no restrictions as to subject, so long as it
concerns Dickens and his works.

If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Metz at the above address
or by e-mail at [log in to unmask]
